It's now at: http://www.ozemail.com.au/~jamestorm/bristorm.html The original now has a link to this one. I've made a few changes to the Notable Storms summaries, and the Photo Gallery is much better to use and takes no time to download. As I type this, I haven't yet included my 1995 storm photos, but that'll happen in the near future. Of course, I'm always open to suggestions on how to improve the site, so email me if you have any ideas! I'm pretty sure that this only affects SE Qld residents, but the Energex Lightning Detection system has been re-installed back into the Channel 7 Austext service. That means for those who have a Teletext decoder in their TV can now again check the lightning strikes in SE Qld without logging on to the Energex detection on the internet. Energex has 2 pages: p178 & p179. The first page warns people of the coming storm season and what they should do to prepare, while 179 has the lightning detection service. At the moment it says "test page" but it is expected to be in full use soon. (I hope!) Remember, this is for TV's with Teletext and people in SE Qld only. There isn't too much happening in terms of storms. The weather is warm with mostly a northerly wind regime but obviously the upper and mid levels aren't conducive to storm development. You would have to think there would be something at the end of this warm weather! A trough is expected in SW Qld maybe on Sat, so I guess there's a storm risk early next week when we all work. Maybe not. Ok see ya everyone :) James Brisbane -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- X-Sender: mbath at ozemail.com.au Date: Tue, 29 Sep 1998 18:35:05 +0800 To: aussie-weather at world.std.com Michael Bath Subject: aussie-weather: tropical cyclone Sender: aussie-weather-approval at world.std.com Reply-To: aussie-weather at world.std.com The second tropical cyclone for the 1998/99 season has formed in the Indian Ocean at 9S 73.4E. It's expected to intensify a little and head generally westwards. Full details will be added to my cyclones pages as the become available. On another note, the 'death ridge from hell' has certainly killed off any chance of convection in Eastern Australia the past few days and looks like persisting. Pity the chasers up at Tenterfield at the moment. Looks like activity will develop in S NSW by Friday. Port Headland had a new September record of 41.2, beating the old record of of 41.0 on the 29/9/1991. Other high temperatures included 40C at Kununurra, 42C at Pardoo and Roebourne, and Mandora got to 43C. I also noticed that Alice Springs is expecting 37C tomorrow, their September record is 37.7, Adelaide is forecast to get to 29C. Jacob
