Hello everbody, this is James from Brisbane :)

Just to tell everybody about the Bris weather.  Today we had some further rain, 
though not as much as I had hoped.  Still, in the 24 hrs to 9am the Brisbane Airport 
got 44mm, which was 10mm above the entire Brisbane average for September.  Part 
of the Qld weather notes:
RECENT EVENTS (1) IN QUEENSLAND     Many rainfall stations in southeast
Queensland reported their highest daily September rainfall on record to 9am
Friday morning.Some stations almost doubled the previous record. For example,
Landsbourough reported 134mm compared with the previous September highest of
71mm.
Today was a thunderday, with storm activity actually occurring near Esk in the a'noon 
to move across Brisbane near 6pm with brief heavy rain and deep booming thunder.  I 
understand a building in the city was actually struck by lightning, but thats 
unconfirmed.  I was at work so I missed most of it.  :(

Now, looking at our forecast in the next 4 days.  We're going for an a'noon shr or 2 
tomorrow after early drizzle.  Storm activity is forecast for much of the inland areas 
up to Warwick and Toowoomba, so I won't be surprised if we get something. There's 
so much moisture around and a bit of instability.  A late shr or storm should arrive on 
Sunday ahead of the inland trough, which is looking very good at this stage.  IBIWISI 
(I'll believe it when I see it) - thats a term I tend to use so often when there are 
forecasts for good weather.  Going for a shower or storm on tueday, but I'm not about 
to comment on that just yet.

Hi All,

The latest IR satellite image (8pm 12/9) shows a nice line a storms across
NE VIC and southern NSW associated with the approaching cold front. I'm
surprised there are no warnings out as they appear to be quite large cells.

Hi everyone!  First an introduction, my name is Anthony and I live in
the eastern suburbs of Brisbane.  I am currently completing my last year
of school (grade 12) and as you all are, I am a weather fanatic!

Today's weather gave us a few storms in the afternoon, however
unfortunately they passed just north of here, between Redcliffe and
Caloundra.  The storms developed near Esk, then moved ESE but then
shifted E then NE.  They didn't last long because their anvil's were
quite long and obsurred about 5/8's of the sky which cut off their heat
(temperature dropped 4C in an hour from 26 to 22 at my house) and the NE
winds were not very strong, which normally supply our storms with the
fuel and moisture they need.  Had the NE winds kicked in today, we may
have seen something much more interesting!  The storms were the result
of some cold air aloft left over from the previous days of rain.

Storms are forecasted for tomorrow and Monday, currently a line of new
storms is about 130km west of Brisbane, ( at  9:20pm) but I do not believe
these will do anything for Brisbane.

Hi everyone

I've just written up yesterday's incredible rain in the Brisbane area
for Aus Wx News, and would appreciate any additional information you
may have. As with all the other big rain events of the past few
months, it'll be interesting to see the Bureau's postal rainfall
returns when they come in!

I notice that as of right now we have 11 people on the list! I

The situation for next week is intriguing, with the US MRF still going
for copious rain in an arc from Adelaide to Cairns and a few hundred
km inland as the next trough/rainband moves through!  NOGAPS, on the
other hand, ignores it completely

I noticed that on the sat pic, looks like some interesting weather there.

Raining here in Perth right now (8:15pm WST), the pressure is quite high
with the rain at 1021.3 hPa, temp is 14.2C, cold front moving through
tomorrow morning, only showers expected in Perth, but isolated
thunderstorms and hail are forecast for the southern coast of Western
Australia.

Hello everyone,
	Earlier this evening some storm cells moved through Sydney
bringing heavy rain (don't know exact figures yet) and have now moved off
the coast.  I have looked at some animated WV imagery which shows a jet
streak associated with the advancing front and some cells have popped up
within this region which is to the west of Sydney.  They seem to be quite
isolated and appear to have fairly cool tops now.  I wonder if there might
be some severe weather associated.  No warnings have been issued as such
so perhaps there isn't anything significant apart from heavy rainfall. -

Hi all - just thought I'd inform you that those storms that were
developing in a line W of Brisbane quickly intensified and moved very
rapidly NE.  We are now getting light/moderate rain with some thunder
and lightning - most of it is mainly to the north of us, although I can
hear some more rumbles to the west.  I must say I didn't expect anything
else tonight after today's dismal performance!

And to comment on Michael's comment, I have heard of unconfirmed reports
of marble hail near Sydney.  I'm surprised they didn't at least issue an
advice.
