SOUTHWEST PACIFIC (SWP) - South Pacific Ocean East of Longitude 160E

NOTE: The tracking and intensity information on Southwest Pacific
Basin tropical cyclones is taken from real-time operational
warnings issued by the Nadi TCWC, Fiji. The MSW are based
on a 10-min averaging period. To convert these to equivalent

speed estimates by JTWC or NPMOC, mentioned in the Remarks
column, are 1-min average sustained winds. To convert
these to equivalent 10-min average winds, multiply by 0.87.

NOTE: The gale force winds indicated from 20/1800Z until 21/1200Z
were forecast to be occurring in the southern or southwestern quadrant
only. The definition of a tropical cyclone adherred to in WMO Region V
requires that gales completely surround the center before the system
is classified as a tropical cyclone and assigned a name.

This system was accidentally numbered as TC-32P in the first warning
issued by NPMOC. In order to avoid confusion this number was retained
in subsequent warnings. However, it will officially be known as TC-36P.
